With Father’s Day approaching, it’s a good time to acknowledge the men who have made an impact on my life. Not all of these men do I know personally but they have made an impact just the same. This is a list of God-honoring men I truly respect.
Here’s to my Dad, who often took time at the end of a busy day to play catch. Who took an interest in scouting because I was interested in scouting.
Here’s to my Grandpa Bauer, who demonstrated generosity to others in way I want to emulate. Who had a great sense of humor and always made me laugh with his quick wit and was always up for a trip to the DQ!
Here’s to my Grandpa Conrad, who demonstrated to me a quiet spirit. Who was a jack-of-all-trades and impressed me with his many talents.
Hear, my children, the instruction of a father,
And give attention to know understanding;
~ Proverbs 4:1 ~
Here’s to my father-in-law, who raised a wonderful daughter I am blessed to call my wife.
Here’s to my college friends and roommates, who led me to Christ and showed me early on in my Christian walk what it meant to be a follower of Jesus.
Here’s to the pastors of TCBC, past and present, who faithfully preach the Word and challenge me to be a better man.
Here’s to my Scout leaders, who taught me life skills and spurred me on in my pursuit of the Eagle Scout award, my most proud achievement as a youth.
Here’s to Todd Wilson (the Family Man), Dennis Rainey, Dr. James Dobson, and Albert Mohler who challenge me from the other side of the microphone through radio programs and podcasts to be a better husband and father. Who’s books have taught me how to raise boys and girls and be the husband my wife needs me to be.
There are others, to be sure, who have influenced who I am today and I am no less thankful for each one.
What a blessing to be surrounded by men all through my life who have made a difference and made an impact on me personally.
