When you run in Indiana, some days it feels like you’re always running against the wind, no matter which direction you are running. I have been training for the KT82 relay race to run with some friends in June. I windstarted training in January and most of those miles seem to have come against the wind.

That’s just the way it is in northwest Indiana. There’s a reason Indiana was chosen as one of the locations for the wind farms.

Sometimes parenting is that way, life is that way. You feel like you have an uphill battle. You’re at odds with your kids over a decision you made. Maybe you’re even at odds with your spouse over a recent spat. You’re not wrong but you may not be right either.

You can’t change the wind but you can change your response. You can change your attitude. You can apply a soft answer as Proverbs 15:1 calls us to do. “A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.”

And you can keep running. Even if it feels like you’re going backwards, keep moving.
