For the past couple of years, I’ve become more interested in deepening my knowledge of networking and information security. As I was reading up on some ideas on how to create a better home network, I came across the idea of setting up a guest network on our exiting wifi.
This was an interesting idea because one of the things I never liked much was giving out our wifi password to guests who would come over. Depending on the situation I may or may not have given it out but I was never comfortable with it.
So the next step was to see if and how this could work on our wifi. After doing a little digging, I learned that our modem allows us to create up to 4 SSID’s (wireless networks).
The process was simple so I was easily able to set up an SSID for a guest network and provide with its own password. Now we’re ready to have guests over again.
