KT82 Training – Week 21

This week started with the annual Chloe K 5K run for Autism research benefiting OAR. My friend Jeff and his wife Susie organize the event each year. This year was the 10th annual event. I ran a 23:44 (7:37 pace) and finished 3rd in my age group. Really, I was fourth but the overall male winner was in my age group so I slid in to get an award. Hey, I’ll take it however it comes! My father-in-law, Roger also…

Community Events with the Family

Community events are a great way to spend time with your family. One of the annual events our family likes to participate in is a 5K run/walk called the Chloe K 5K. My friend Jeff and his wife Susie organize this event. In the 10 years they have been at it, they have raised over $130K for autism research.

KT82 Training – Week 20

This week started off chilly. It was 43 degrees, overcast, cool and windy for my Saturday run. I pushed for 8.1 miles ending in a pace of 8:20. Most of the last half of the run was against the wind. I don’t enjoy these long runs too much but I suppose they are necessary for the training. I’ve stated it before but it helps me immensely to have the Map My Run app tracking my run and providing stats (distance,…

KT82 Training – Week 19

I spent the Saturday doing simulated training getting 10.5 miles in over three separate runs during the course of the day. Here’s how it shook out… 07:00 5.5 miles 44:40, pace 8:07 11:00 3.0 miles 23:24, pace 7:48 14:30 2.0 miles 15:07, pace 7:33 Kind of surprising to me was that my last mile was my fastest split (7:16). Although, I did have the wind to my back. Overall, the day went better than I expected. It was fairly windy,…

Power Wash

My dad came over the other day with his power washer. I had some areas of the house that needed to get cleaned up and power washers do the trick quite handily. One of those areas was the back patio. After a few years of dirt collecting in a corner, spilled grease from the grill and other miscellaneous grime, it was due for a cleaning. I was very happy with the way it cleaned up after a pass over it…

KT82 Training – Week 18

Another solid week of running is in the books. The week started out rainy. I put in two runs on Saturday, 4.8 and 4.3 miles, respectively. It was overcast during the first run and raining during the second run. It started to rain a little during the end of my first run and rained all day long. My pace was decent at 8:18 and 8:12. I had two reasons for wanting to get two runs in on Saturday, 1) I…

062 – It’s the Little Things that Matter with Kent Julian

Show Notes In this episode, I have the pleasure of talking with speaker, author and entrepreneur, Kent Julian. I met Kent a few years ago at a youth conference and have since attended his Speak It Forward Boot Camp twice. E+R=O Kent often speaks about this formula that he picked up from Jack Canfield. This formula is Events (E) plus our Response (R) equals the Outcome (O). The only thing we can control is our response. Our attitude is key…
