KT82 Training – Week 17

I crossed the 250 mile plateau this week in miles for the year. I suppose at this pace I could get to 750 for the year but I don’t have plans to run 20 miles/week after the race. I had a solid week of running, starting with 4.4 on Saturday at a pace of 8:05. I think that is about the fastest pace I’ve had for that distance. I got in a long 8-mile run on Sunday morning. This run…

KT82 Training – Week 16

Another week of running is in the books. It wasn’t the best week but it wasn’t the worst either. I started off on Saturday with a 4 mile run. I saved the longer run for Sunday this week b/c I had a busy day on Saturday with a couple commitments but I did get in a good run in the morning. On Sunday I ran after church. And it was hot. It was in the high 70s and I wanted…

Show Notes What is it to be a desperate parent? One of the definitions of “desperate” is – of extreme intensity. Being a desperate parent is relying on God and recognizing that regardless of how many books you read or workshops you attend, it is all up to God to grip the heart of your child. KT82 Training – Week 15

This week started out cold on Saturday. As I tweeted, “It was a cold, wintry, January day…in April.” It was so unseasonably cold for Spring. It was 26 degrees with snow on the ground when I headed out to run. The roads were a bit icy and it may have been better to run later in the day but I had a lot of running to do and wanted to get it done. I finished eight miles in seventy minutes,…

You Can’t Change the Wind

When you run in Indiana, some days it feels like you’re always running against the wind, no matter which direction you are running. I have been training for the KT82 relay race to run with some friends in June. I started training in January and most of those miles seem to have come against the wind. That’s just the way it is in northwest Indiana. There’s a reason Indiana was chosen as one of the locations for the wind farms.…

KT82 Training – Week 14

Running is a lot less boring when you make a game out of it. I have been looking for a place in town to run that would allow me to spell out my name on my Map My Run app. I’ve been using this app during my training this year and it tracks your running route and provides a complete map when you finish. I thought it would be fun to do this to help pass the time and give…

Ray retired a couple years…

KT82 Training – Week 13

I had decent weather this week for running, although it was pretty windy several days. When you run in Indiana, some days it feels like you’re always running against the wind, no matter which direction you are running. I ran five times this week with mileage of 6.5, 3.7, 3, 3, 2.2. I totaled 18.4 miles for this week bringing my total for March to 71.8 miles. Thursday, especially, was windy, as we had storms move through the area. Otherwise,…
